Creative team changes are scary. As a longtime comics reader, I definitely get a little nervous about what’s going to happen to characters and worlds I’ve grown to love now that it’s in the hands of someone else.
So l want to reassure any readers of GHOST that have been with us up until now that I love Elisa as much as any of you and I’d like to think she’s in capable hands with me, Jan and the Dans.
Working with Kelly Sue on the first three issues was one of the best gigs I’ve ever had and the fact that they trusted me enough to put her in my hands alone is terrifying as hell, but also exciting as hell.
Plus, never mind me, we’ve got Jan Duursema and Dan Parsons drawing it. This is Jan’s first non-Star Wars book in forever and watching her pages come in has been a weekly thrill for me, to see her really cutting loose and making Elisa just as bad ass as she’s always been. But Jan’s also transmitting all her fears and worries and quiet moments with the same amount of care and detail, the way she shows Tommy getting way too excited about things or Vaughn’s weary resignation, all with an equally deft touch.
I’m really excited about this new chapter for GHOST and the chance to tell some really messed up stories all wrapped around Elisa, who is completely fictional, but who I care about to a worrying degree. If you’ve been on the fence, if you’ve been with us up until now or if this is your first time hearing about GHOST, I think you’ll like it as much as I do, and I hope you give us a shot.
